K-12 Entrepreneurial Education

 

In 2003, Northern Initiatives entered into an agreement with Northern Michigan University’s Center for Economic Education to provide Entrepreneurial Education Services to the U.P.’s K-12 schools. The center is now coordinating and managing these programs and can be contacted directly through the following contact information.

The Center’s Services include:

  • In-service and pre-service training for teachers
  • Development and distribution of curriculum materials
  • Student competitions to generate interest in learning economics
  • Guidance for school systems seeking advice on curriculum development
  • Recognition of teachers and school systems for outstanding achievements
  • Outcomes assessment
  • Assistance in helping K-12 students meet the Michigan social studies standards and benchmarks in economics
