Internship Opportunities
Are you a student at Northern Michigan University? Would you like a resume building job experience in a professional setting? Northern Initiatives provides Northern Michigan University students with the opportunity to apply concepts learned in school to a real world setting.
Our internships are unique in four ways:
- Interns play a vital role in Northern Initiatives community development work - you're not just copying and filing. Whether spreading financial statements, helping develop a website for a small business or using social media to promote Upper Peninsula tourism, and help small communities prosper, the concepts learned will prepare you for a career after graduation.
- It's a paid internship. Hourly pay is $9 and retirement benefits are offered to students over 21 years of age.
- The internship is not limited to a semester, summer or year. We prefer to have students for a year or more. We highly recommend you seek credit for the internship, but do not require it. Typically, students are hired as juniors or seniors and will work at Northern Initiatives until graduation from college.
- Our student employee alumni enjoy a high placement rate! Many have found jobs in their respective fields upon graduation.
Also, Northern Initiatives is conveniently located on the NMU Campus in the Jacobetti Center.
Northern Initiatives is currently hiring for the positions listed below. Review the job description to learn more about each position and how to apply. Interviews will start May 15, 2013 with positions starting in June.
